[NI0811] The following email from Dorothy David was received on 3/28/00:

Hi: I just downloaded your file from ancestry.com. I have been doing research on the Conner's for awhile. Right now I'm at work so I don't have much with me (it's lunch time!). My home e-mail is DCDAVID25@AOL.COM.

My great grandmother was Margaret S. Conner born in Rockbridge County VA 3/23/2877. Her parents were Sarah Margaret Gaylor (B: 12/??/1850; M: 11/11/1869; D: 11/10/1925; (buried New Monmouth Cem. Rockbridge VA) and William R. Conner (B: 10/??/1844 abt in Rockbridge, VA).

My great grandmother Margaret S. Conner moved to Washington, DC (I don't know when) and married an Italian immigrant named Antonio DiCamillo, they were married 2/27/1897. No one in my family remembers the exact date or year when Margaret died but she is buried at Mt. Olivet Cem., Washington, D.C. The records at Mt. Olivet are not in good shape, evidently, my great grandfather has himself and his 1st and 2nd wife or is it 3rd wife buried in the same grave. The stone only has the name DiCamillo on it. The cemetery doesn't have Margaret's date of burial listed, but her daughter, my grandmother, said she was buried there.

My great Aunt Ann used to tell me that some of Margaret's cousins had moved to Washington, DC and ran a gas station here.

I also have a lot of stuff about the Conner's which I took from books, but you may already have it.

How are you related, if at all? Would you or anyone else in the family have any idea of how Margaret Conner met Antonio DiCamillo?
I believe St. Anthony's Church in DC has many records, I will be writing to them. I called them years ago, gave them info over the phone, they said they would mail it out, never did and I moved onto other hobbies. Margaret and Antonio lived on the Franciscan Monastery grounds in DC, he was the gardener and Margaret and the kids did the Monks laundry.
